As we learn about emergency situations you should know how to respond to, you will be creating a booklet you can carry with you to our clinical site. This book will contain basic information about what different emergency situations are, signs they are occurring, and what you should do. Though not TECHNICALLY an emergency, abuse and suspected abuse should be treated as emergency situations requiring fast response.
The first part of this book you create will be a section on abuse. In no more than 4 pages that include pictures, small amounts of text, sketches, etc., please do the following:
- Describe the different types of abuse/neglect/misappropriation
- List/describe/sketch signs that these may be occurring
- Identify steps you should/must take if you suspect abuse
- Identify steps you should/must take if you witness abuse
You want this to be user-friendly, as during clinicals you might need to refer to it. Short bursts of brief information, pictures, and acronyms can be your friends for this assignment. Your priority should be warning signs and the things you need to do in the event of this occuring.
