Communication is something that a few people may be naturally gifted at. The rest of us have to work at it. Communication - both verbal and nonverbal - are fundamental skills for any healthcare provider, include CNAs. Communication is something that can be improved with practice, and practice is essential if you are going to be a good care provider. Many of your clients will be the elderly - and sometimes numerous things make speaking with them a challenge. How do we get past those barriers to communication?

Please read the two documents included and answer the questions that follow:

  • Predict what could happen if your communication is poor with your coworkers, including fellow CNAs and nurses.
